Toledo Cathedral

The Capilla Mayor, with a huge altarpiece of gilded and painted larchwood (1504) stretching clear to the ceiling. A magnificent example of Gothic art, it is overflowing with intricate detail and summarizes the entire New Testament with life-sized figures, culminating in a Calvary scene at the top. In the center is a great pyramidal monstrance.
