Agios Nikolaos Monastery, Meteora
Agios Nikolaos Anapaphsas is a little 14th-century monastery approached by a relatively gentle path on the otherwise rugged Meteora in Greece.
Agios Nikolaos Anapaphsas features splendid frescoes by the 16th-century Cretan painter Theophanes the Monk.
Another advantage to this little monastery is that tour buses often rush past it to get to the Great Meteoron, so you may find you have it all to yourself.
