Noah curses his son Ham, father of Canaan, for witnessing Noah's naked drunkenness. The other two sons, Shem and Japheth, stand on the other side. "When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, he said, 'Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers" (Genesis 9:24). Detail of the Noah Window, located at the west end of the north aisle. Like most of the windows in Chartres Cathedral, it dates from the early 13th century.
