Little Kimble Church
The Church of All Saints in Little Kimble is a pleasant little parish church in Buckinghamshire with fragments of 14th-century wall paintings.
What to See at Little Kimble Church
Little Kimble Parish Church is a two-room church composed of aisleless nave and chancel. A heavy Victorian restoration on the exterior makes it look like a fairly uninteresting cemetery chapel, disguising the medieval treasures inside.
Access to the pleasant and peaceful interior is through the north door. The windows are small and include some fragments of heraldic and naturalistic medieval glass, including oak leaves and acorns. The choir has stalls with poppyhead carvings and a fine wooden eagle lectern.
On the floor of the chancel protected by a rope barrier are six interesting 13th-century floor tiles. They depict a king with his dog, a knight on horseback, two knights fighting, and other medieval scenes.
Significant fragments of 14th-century wall paintings adorn nearly all the walls. Use the easily accessible light switches for best viewing.
